Claudia Schulz Hats

Hats have been a passion of mine for a long time. I would wear them in any form from berets to felt and straw hats. But mostly I am inspired by the snug fit of a cloche style hat, which is the key shape in most of my hats.

My inspiration come from the 1920s cloche/cap, which I’ve transformed, into a modern urban hat. I create wearable, functional hats for every day use, with minimal accessories.

My hats stand out through the shape and colour, or colour combination, simple lines and geometric shapes, understated and modern.

I’m using mostly wool felt, and occasionally fur felt. They are blocked over traditional wooden hat blocks. I accessorise with buckles and buttons, preferably unique vintage pieces, but some styles require new resin or fabric buttons.

Hat's on to Isabella Blow

You may not know her name, but you've probably seen her face -- a modern-day Olive Oyl, updated by outrageous designer outfits and even more flamboyant hats -- and you're certainly aware of her contributions to fashion: the discoveries of designer Alexander McQueen, milliner Philip Treacy, model Sophie Dahl, among others. Isabella Blow, the British stylist, magazine editor, muse and most of all, eccentric, died in May -- she committed suicide by drinking weed killer -- and celebrities and fashion's elite turned out for a memorial service Tuesday during London Fashion Week.
Many, including Joan Collins, Naomi Campbell and Princess Beatrice, came fitted out in headgear that would have made Blow proud -- and probably a little jealous. Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who employed Blow for a time, and Suzy Menkes, the International Herald Tribune fashion editor, spoke at the service, held at Guards Chapel, where Princess Diana's memorial was held last month.

Haute Couture Hats – An Interesting Collection

This stunning GALVIN-ized hat is all you need for the summer. Sure it’s big, but it makes one hell of a statement.
This Farfalla Nero hat by Marilena Romeo incorporates a modern spin into a classic piece.
This pretty, environmentaly friendly hat by Katie Burley is a must for the eco-chic girl. It’s earthy, it’s lovely, and it’s everything you’ve wanted!
Pink just scream feminine and this hat by Marilena Romeo is just the thing to make you feel soft and feminine.
This lilac fedora hat by GALVIN-ized is the perfect accessory for your haute couture ensembles. I absolutely love this hat – it’s not too crazy, but not too boring either.

Long scarf

How to Tie a Long Scarf: Rosette

Create a rosette out of any oblong scarf.

1. Fold one end of the scarf back 3 inches lengthwise and roll the scarf width wise to create the rosette.
2. Holding the rosette so that it doesn't unravel, place the middle of the scarf at the back of your neck so that the rosette is near the neck and the other end drapes long in front.
3. Take both ends, knot and pull the knot up to your neck so that the rosette is visible

Rainn Wilson, Terrence Howard, etc...

Look out for Rainn Wilson (Dwight from THE OFFICE) sporting fedoras in his interviews and in the press. His stylist pick up a couple of hats that Rainn loved. It's something new for him but hopefully it's a start of a beautiful relationship.

Also, we had a nice visit from our old friend and customer, Terrence Howard. Terrence always makes a point of stopping by when he's in town working, eventhough his hometown of Philadelphia is a very traditional "hat town" and has several places where he can shop.

Check out an upcoming Heineken commercial with THE WIRE's Gregory Williams sporting a Hollywood Hatters fedora as well as Priceline's "The Big Deal" with one of our derby's.

Matt Goss

So Matt Goss has been a customer of HH for several years. Honestly, I never knew who he was. Sure I knew his name, his hat size and what kind of hats he liked. But I never knew what he did... until now.  It seems Mr. Goss is an international known singer and performer who has sold over 17 million records!!! He has headlined at the Palms hotel in Las Vegas consistantly selling out and is ready to move over to Ceasars Palace. With so many worldwide tourists visiting LV, they know him and flock to hear him live.  I plan on checking him out on my next trip up to Crapsville.
Here he is in one of our hats! View deets of this hat here: http://hollywoodhatters.com/details/soho.html
